Supporting Fallen Firefighters Foundation

In support of the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation, Delta Disaster Services donated a 1900's Style Helmet for the Colorado Fallen Firefighter Foundation Golf Tournament held on Thursday May 27th at the Silver Spruce Golf Course located on the Peterson Air Force Base.; This helmet was given as the award for "Closest to the Pin".

Delta Disaster Services supports the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation's efforts to support families who have lost a Fireman in the line-of-duty and to provide training to minimize firefighter deaths.

The National Fallen Firefighter Foundation

The National Fallen Firefighter Foundation was created by Congress to lead a nationwide effort to honor America's fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the non-profit Foundation has developed and expanded programs that to honor and remember America's fallen fire heroes and to provide resources to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives.

Each October, the Foundation sponsors the official national tribute to all firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. Thousands attend the weekend activities held at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The Weekend features special programs for survivors and coworkers along with moving public ceremonies. The foundation provides travel, lodging and meals for immediate survivors of fallen firefighters, as well as a Family Day which is conducted by trained grief counselors.

The foundation also offers a Fire Service Survivors Network, Family Scholarship Assistance, Department Training to help fire departments handle a line-of-duty death, and also life safety training to reduce the number of deaths.
